Windows 10 'Your Phone' app updated with Android notification syncing

29 April 2019 3

Microsoft has released a new update for its Your Phone app meant for Windows 10 and Android platforms. The app essentially allows Android users to make use of their apps on a Windows 10 PC or laptop. The new update brings support for Android notification syncing which is undoubtedly a big help for the app users.

The new update was announced by Microsoft's director of program management at Microsoft Mobile eXperiences Vishnu Nath. He tweeted a screenshot of the feature to show how it works. The particular screenshot showed notifications from Twitter, Google, OneDrive, and Facebook Messenger. The app shows notification details to let users know what the alert is about.

As per the announcement, the new feature is currently getting rolled out via Insiders channel. It is a staged rollout which means some users will get the update faster than others. The app shows notifications within its own panel instead of the standard Windows 10 notification center. Although, the app will allow users to choose which apps' notifications should get synced.

The Your Phone app for Windows 10 was released last year. Since its debut, the app has received various updates to increase its functionality. It also supports screen mirroring which is compatible with selected phones.

"It also supports screen mirroring which is compatible with selected phones." Hahaha... this half-baked info actually pushes me to search more for those "select phones".
