Since the start of 2019, Xiaomi has opted for pretty unconventional marketing strategies from time to time. It used the Redmi Note 7 to break walnuts on to show the phone's durability. It was followed by making people use the smartphone as a cutting board for chopping vegetables as well as making them jump on the phone. But this time around, Xiaomi has done something many would not have imagined in their wildest dreams as it sent a Redmi Note 7 to space to show "out of the world" quality of the phone.
Xiaomi made use of 3D printed custom-made rig and hot weather balloon to send Redmi Note 7 on a space voyage. The mid-range smartphone was able to fly up to an altitude of 31,000 meters before the balloon burst because of the atmospheric pressure. In the whole process, the smartphone was able to withstand an external temperature of -58 degree Celsius and an internal temperature of 4 degree Celsius.
Other than this, the Redmi Note 7 even clicked a few shots of space which Xiaomi shared on social media with pride. While one should not expect absolute stunning photography here, the whole fact that $200 phone went to space and survived everything is definitely worth the praise. It should be noted that it was the Chinese variant of the phone as it features a 48-megapixel rear camera. The Indian version comes with a 12-megapixel and 2-megapixel dual rear camera setup.
