WhatsApp beta brings new emoji layout; Dark Mode renamed to Night Mode

15 May 2019 2

WhatsApp has released in a new beta build that brings a completely new emoji layout. The layout covers over 155 emojis which have received either a complete overhaul or just a slight change. The well-known online publication WABetaInfo has further reported that WhatsApp's Dark Mode has been renamed to Night Mode.

Starting with the new emoji layout, WhatsApp has made significant changes to most of the emojis and minor changes to the remaining ones. For example, the rugby ball emoji has been changed completely. On another hand, the camera emoji is almost the same except that the new one has a flash added to it. The screenshot added below shows some of the emoji changes.

As for the Dark Mode, it has been under beta testing for quite some time and it continues to be the same way. The only noticeable difference is that mode has now been renamed to Night Mode. The exact reason behind this name change is unknown but we might get some details when the feature makes its way to the public version.

It is worth noting that all these features are currently part of WhatsApp beta. It means it will take some time before they make their way to the public version and become available for everyone.

The camera emoji is slightly altered with the flash as explained in the story and also seen in the first row. But the rugby ball emoji is entirely overhauled with a newer color.
