WhatsApp to add hide muted status updates feature soon

27 June 2019 0

WhatsApp is known for beta testing and releasing new features every now and then. It keeps on looking for ways to make the app more useful for the users. It is now reported to be working on a new feature that will allow hiding muted status updates. It is aimed at providing a cleaner status viewing experience which can get cluttered for many users.

To understand this new upcoming feature, you should know that WhatsApp allows you to mute status updates from any contact by simply tapping and holding on the one(s) you don't want to see. It moves all muted statuses towards the bottom under a separate section called Muted Updates. While it works good, it can also turn out to be crowded if you mute a number of contacts.

This is where the hide muted status updates feature comes into the picture. It will give you a new "Hide" option just next to the muted updates section. Tapping on the option will collapse all muted status updates and make them disappear to offer a cleaner interface. It will also allow you to focus on the status updates that you are interested in watching. During this time, the "Hide" option will change to "Show" option so that you can unhide them whenever you want.

It should be noted WhatsApp is yet to make the hide muted status updates feature live. It has currently been spotted only in the source code of the latest beta by folks over at WABetaInfo. It is hard to say when we will get to see the feature in action but whenever that happens, we will make sure to keep you in the loop.
