A new Telegram update is here which introduces Animated Stickers to the popular instant messaging application. It means instead of limiting users to sharing static stickers, it is now offering the freedom to send stickers that also show some movement. These stickers help users express their emotions/feelings in a better and more realistic way.
The most important thing to note here is that Telegram's Animated Stickers are not like your standard animated stickers available on other apps and platforms. These have been released under a completely new format called .TGS which is based on Airbnb's open source tool Lottie. This format is said to make sharing animated stickers a lot more battery and data efficient.
With the help of the aforementioned tool and "various optimizations", the Telegram team was able to create stickers that can run at 60 frames per second while weighing only 20-30 kilobytes in size. This also results in data saving as well as faster upload and download rate for quicker communication.
Telegram update adds a bunch of animated sticker packs to get users started with. Some of these are called Resistance Dog, Melie The Cavy, Fred The Pug, Banana Fun, and Minty Zebra. But since the sticker format is an open source standard, one can expect to see more sticker packs in the future. As for finding a relevant animated sticker, all you need to do is to type the emoji and Telegram will show a list of relevant sticker suggestions.
