When Qualcomm took wraps off the Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, there were no details about what smartphones and from what OEMs to expect. Asus became the first smartphone maker to announce a phone featuring the latest flagship chipset but now, we have at least five more OEMs teasing the arrival of their respective offerings in the future.
These include Lenovo and Realme along with the gaming smartphone brands Nubia Red Magic and Black Shark. These are joined by Vivo's sub-brands iQOO and NEX which are also interested in releasing a Snapdragon 855 Plus-powered smartphone. It is worth noting that all these brands have only teased the arrival of such a phone. It means we are still quite far from hearing exact details about these devices like specifications, features, pricing, and exact release date.
All the brands made the announcement via their respective official Weibo social media accounts. The posts are pretty standard where they have praised the new chipset and expressed excitement about using it in their devices. It goes without saying that as we get closer to the release, we will be hearing more from the brands.
As for Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset itself, it is a slightly improved version of the Snapdragon 855 processor. The major difference is in terms of CPU and GPU performance which is said to be faster due to overclocking. The Plus variant also comes with 5G capabilities but it will be up to OEMs whether they want to make use of it.
