Coolpad ready to launch 5G smartphones in India

09 August 2019 0

The Chinese smartphone brand Coolpad has announced that it is ready to launch 5G smartphones in India. It wants to revolutionize the Indian smartphone market by releasing first 5G smartphones in the country. It is hoping to release 5G phones by the start of the next year but the actual release would depend on the readiness of 5G infrastructure.

The Indian telecom ministry is currently working on laying out a plan for conducting 5G trials and deciding which network carriers should be granted the license. The whole process will surely take time to get completed and as a result, it is safe to assume that we are still about a year away from seeing 5G network rollout in India.

In an official press release, Coolpad has mentioned that it started working on 5G developments as early as 2012. It has filed over 800 5G-related patents since then and has been granted about 120 device-to-device 5G patents. It is hopeful that all these patents and developments will help it gain the advantage once 5G battle will heat up in one of the biggest smartphone markets of the world.

Fisher Yuan, CEO of Coolpad India said,

“Since its inception, Coolpad India has aimed to satiate the needs of the value-conscious Indian consumers who expect remarkable specifications at budget-friendly prices. In line with our constant endeavour to exceed customer expectations that we have accelerated the development and launch of our 5G ready devices in the country. Depending on the readiness of the 5G network in India, we are aiming to launch these devices early next year.”

Coolpad's announcement regarding 5G plans has arrived just one month after an internal memo was leaked. It also talked about plans for releasing 5G-ready smartphones as soon as possible. While the likes of Samsung and Huawei are set to one of the key players in the 5G market, Coolpad seems to be all prepared to play an important part.
