Huawei Mate 20 X 5G updated with 30x zoom, disabled 5G by default

09 August 2019 0

Huawei has pushed a new software update for the Mate 20 X 5G, its first and only commercially available 5G smartphone in the market. It is a major update as it is not only hefty in download size but also brings two significant changes to the smartphone.

With this update, the Mate 20 X 5G is now capable of offering up to 30x zoom which is aimed at enhancing the photography experience. The increased zooming capability means you will be able to capture better shots of distant objects. But since it is digital zoom, zooming in 30 times does not always guarantee a clearer shot. You will have to choose the specific zoom level depending on what you are shooting and how far it is.

The second major change included in the update is that the 5G network will stay disabled by default. You will have to enable the 5G network option whenever you would want to make use of 5G data speeds. It can be done by visiting Settings -> Wireless and Network -> Mobile Network Interface Enable 5G.

Other than these two changes, Huawei has focused on optimizing the power consumption of the phone. It should help you get more out of the battery. The update carries the build number EMUI 9.1.1.158 and is being rolled out over the air. The update size is 3.86GB which means it is advised that you connect to a WiFi network before starting the downloading process.
