Xiaomi's Redmi brand is preparing for a new launch event in China that has been scheduled for August 29th. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has confirmed that the major attraction of the event will be the Redmi TV launch. He further went on to suggest that we might also get to see the unveiling of Redmi Note 8 at the same event.
Starting with the Redmi TV, it will be the first smart TV by Redmi but considering Xiaomi's experience with releasing TVs, the end product should offer great value for money. The launch poster for the product confirmed that the first Redmi TV will sport a huge 70-inch display panel. It should be a 4K panel with support for technologies like HDR10 and Dolby Vision.
On another hand, the Redmi Note 8 has been making rounds of the rumor mill for past few days. It will be a Redmi Note 7 successor and as per Xiaomi executive Lu Weibing, there will be significant upgrades. He talked about better camera quality and bigger battery in a Weibo post that also had "Note8Android" subtext under his username. This suggests that he made the post using the Redmi Note 8 itself.
The mention of a better camera makes sense as the Redmi Note 8 is rumored to feature 64-megapixel Samsung sensor. It will be an upgrade over the currently used 48-megapixel sensor on the Redmi Note 7. The upcoming smartphone is further tipped to feature a quad-camera setup on the back panel. If we go by leaked images, it will be a vertically-aligned set up with all four cameras inside a single module.
Since there are still 10 days to go for the launch event, we can expect some more leaks and rumors about the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi TV. If any information surfaces online, we will make sure to keep you updated.
