In its brief journey of five years, OnePlus has impressed everyone including tech enthusiasts, critics/experts, and casual users with its hardware as well as software support. It is one of the few Android OEMs, excluding Google and Android One devices, that can be relied upon for delivering faster and regular Android updates. But this time around OnePlus seems to be preparing to set the bar even higher for rivals.
As spotted on Reddit, a user has shared a screenshot of his conversation with a OnePlus customer support executive. The latter told the user that OnePlus is working towards releasing Android 10 upgrade on the same day as Google. The representative mentioned that Android 10 public build will start rolling out on September 3rd which is in line with a recent report.
It should be noted that OnePlus is planning to release the upgrade on the same day as and when Google will release Android 10. It means there is a probability that it could end up rolling out the update with some delay which should still be way faster than many other non-Google OEMs. Also, it goes without saying that if it happens, then such a fast update will be arriving on the latest flagships OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro first.
Lastly, we would suggest not to get too much excited about this particular bit of information. Even though OnePlus has an impressive software update track record, it had also been the OEM that ended up delaying updates right when it was supposed to release them. It would not be surprising if something like that happens again. Either way, we are not too far away from September 3rd and we will know the truth next week.
