The Vivo NEX 3 5G smartphone launch is exactly one week away from today and as part of the marketing campaign, Vivo has released official teaser images and video. As you would expect, official teasers do not confirm anything and only tease you for what is coming in an attempt to create some hype.
The major focus of all the teaser images and the video is on "waterfall display" of the smartphone. It is the kind of display that goes beyond the edges and wraps itself around the curves. It means you have a lot of glass on all both left and right side of the smartphone and the top/bottom being only visible bezels. In fact, there are no physical buttons on the side as they have been replaced with pressure-sensitive alternatives.
The upcoming smartphone neither has a notch nor a punch-hole camera. Vivo has opted for a pop-up selfie camera which helps it get a full-screen real estate on the front. It means we will definitely be seeing Vivo talking about the NEX 3 display and high screen-to-body ratio in detail.
The back panel of the NEX 3 has a circular camera module with triple rear cameras. These camera sensors are aligned in a way that if they are connected to each other with a line, they will form a triangle. The rear camera setup is confirmed to have a 64-megapixel primary sensor with other two cameras reported to be 13-megapixel sensors.
Vivo has also shared screenshots related to the default camera app meant for the NEX 3. The main reason behind sharing the screenshots is to show the new camera app UI. Most of the details about this new interface are unknown but it is currently said to be fully customizable. It seems like users will be able to adjust the placement of different camera app menus and options as per their preferences.
As said in the beginning, the Vivo NEX 3 official launch is confirmed for September 16th in China. It will be arriving in 4G LTE and 5G models where the latter will be called NEX 3 5G. The support for the 5G network seems to be the only difference between the two but we will have to wait until the launch for details. Similarly, the price difference between the two will also be worth looking for.
