Huawei Mate 30 Pro gets the highest DxOMark camera score

27 September 2019 0

There are a lot of great things to talk about the Huawei Mate 30 Pro and one of them is its cameras. The latest Huawei flagship packs impressive camera hardware on paper and while actual reviews are yet to come in, DxOMark has announced that Mate 30 Pro is now the highest rated smartphone camera in its rankings.

The Mate 30 Pro managed to reach a score of 121 which is four points clear of the previous leader Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus 5G. In terms of DxOMark camera tests, a four-point gap is considered to be a big one. It is worth noting that the team tested the smartphone camera on a firmware that is not available anywhere else. This particular firmware is said to become available for everyone via a software update in the near future.

The flagship scored an impressive 131 and 100 in photos and video shooting tests respectively. This exceptionally high still photography test score helped Mate 30 Pro reclaim the top spot for Huawei. In DxOMark's conclusion, the smartphone's camera excels at almost everything, especially when it comes to texture and noise balance. Although the team was not too happy with the narrow field of view of the wide-angle camera, it was impressed with the image quality. It further says that it is the best smartphone out there for bokeh and zoom shots.

The video recording score of 100 means that the Mate 30 Pro is only one point behind the table leader Galaxy Note 10+ 5G. The exact difference is likely to be visible when comparing the two flagships side by side but other than that, it should serve your video recording needs very well. The selfie camera also managed to do a good job but was not able to impress the team as much as the rear cameras. It received a selfie camera score of only 93 but that was enough for the phone to break into the top five.

To give you a technical overview, the Mate 30 Pro sports a quad-camera setup on the back panel. It has a 40-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.6 aperture, a 40-megapixel wide-angle sensor with f/1.8 aperture, an 8-megapixel telephoto sensor with f/2.4 aperture, and a 3D TOF camera. The selfie camera setup features a 32-megapixel main camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 3D TOF camera.
