Xiaomi releases MIUI 11 China ROM; Global ROM coming Oct 16

11 October 2019 0

Xiaomi's newest Android custom skin MIUI 11 is now releasing for select Android devices in China. These devices include the Redmi 7, Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 7 Pro, and Redmi K20 for the time being. We can expect the company to expand the rollout to more devices in the coming weeks.

All of these smartphones are receiving MIUI 11 as an over the air (OTA) update. If you are someone from China or even from any other region but with the Chinese ROM, you should receive an update notification anytime soon. The exact size of the OTA update file will vary depending on the device but for the Redmi K20, it is reported to be around 700 MB. Nevertheless, we will suggest you use a WiFi connection for downloading the update, especially if you are using a limited cellular internet pack.

Other than this, Xiaomi has announced that it will announce MIUI 11 Global ROM on October 16th in India. It will unveil the new ROM for the global audience at the same event where it has Redmi Note 8 Pro global release planned as well. This means we are less than a week away from the global release of the smartphone as well as the new Android skin.

As for the difference between MIUI 11 Chinese and Global ROMs, we are expecting the majority of the things to stay the same. Xiaomi is likely to announce a few India-specific and global market features with the Global ROM. We have no doubt that China-specific features from the Chinese ROM will not be making their way to this side. Some of the features that are also expected to become available on Global ROM are the new Milan Pro font style, dynamic font scaling, system-wide dark mode, and new Always-on Display animations. Lastly, we will get to know about the global release roadmap as well.
