Realme phones will get ColorOS 7 with stock Android experience

25 October 2019 0

Realme phones have a lot of good things to offer but when it comes to the software user experience, not many are happy with the ColorOS skin that it inherited from parent company Oppo. This is the reason Realme previously confirmed that it is working on a lighter and cleaner skin called RealmeOS for its own smartphones. But now, Realme CEO Madhav Sheth has revealed that Realme phone will continue to use ColorOS but they will be making some tweaks to the same.

In the latest episode of the #AskMadhav series on YouTube, Sheth revealed that Realme phone will receive an exclusive version of the upcoming ColorOS 7 update. This special version will be closer to the stock Android and offer a stock Android experience. He did not reveal a release timeline for the update and which Realme devices will be in the pipeline for the same. As for Oppo smartphones, they will get the standard ColorOS 7 version.

It is worth noting that Sheth did not touch upon the topic of RealmeOS while offering the statement. It means even though Realme is sticking with ColorOS, we can still see Realme's own skin sometime in the future. It is quite possible that the skin is still under development and Realme does not want to release it in a hurry.

Sheth further revealed a couple of interesting details as well. He said an upcoming software update will enable video recording with the wide-angle sensor on all Realme phones with a quad-camera setup. It means Realme XT, Realme X2 Pro, Realme X2, Realme 5, and Realme 5 Pro users should lookout for any new updates that may come.

Realme is all set to venture into the fitness market as Sheth teased the arrival of a new fitness product. He did not mention whether it will be a fitness tracker or a smartwatch but asked fitness enthusiasts to wait for further announcements. Lastly, he said that they might release a VOOC power bank if there is enough demand from customers.
