It was only yesterday when Xiaomi confirmed November 5 as the day for announcing a few new products and now, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has released official renders for one of them. It is Xiaomi's first smartwatch, likely to be called Mi Watch, that will be running Wear OS out of the box. The renders show what the smartwatch will look like and what color variants will be available.
The one thing that you will notice right off the bat is that the Xiaomi smartwatch looks identical to the Apple Watch. It has the same rectangular dial with circular corners. The placement of the crown and power button is also at the same position where Apple has done with its own smartwatch.
Jun revealed that the Xiaomi smartwatch will be released in Black and Silver color variants. You can see that the watch dial is of the Black color but it is the color of the strap that differs. In terms of features, the Mi Watch will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear processor. The connectivity options include eSIM, NFC, WiFi, and GPS support which will allow users to use the smartwatch even when not connected to a smartphone. Xiaomi is also claiming a larger battery life but we will have to wait to see the exact numbers.
This will be the first smartwatch to come with Xiaomi branding but it is not the company's first foray into smartwatches. It has previously released various models under the AmazFit brand. The AmazFit GTR is the most recent release by the brand.
