Microsoft has unveiled a new Office mobile app that offers Word, PowerPoint, and Excel at a single place. The app has been released for Android and iOS users but in the beta stage for now. It will save users from the trouble of installing all three individual apps and eventually some storage space.
The new Office mobile app has three tabs: Home, Plus sign, and Actions. Home is the default tab of the app which shows all recently opened files with most recent ones shown first. The second tab with Plus sign is for creating a new document, note or scanning a new document via Office Lens. The last Actions tab is home to additional tools to improve your productivity on mobile.
These additional tools include the ability to transfer files between your phone and computer and even to nearby phones. The app can be used for scanning documents and even extract text for Word and tables for Excel sheets. Since PDFs are crucial for any office work, there are options to digitally sign a PDF, scan a PDF, create PDF files from pictures, and convert a document into PDF. Lastly, the app even offers scanning QR codes with links or text which can then be saved to notes.
Microsoft said that while the new Office mobile app has been released for the beta stage, all three individual apps for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint will continue to be available as well. It will be helpful for those who want to use only one or two Office apps instead of the whole suite.
