Instagram may be planning to release a new tool for its Stories feature that will let the users edit their videos and make them fun to watch for the watchers. In short, Instagram is said to be testing a new video editing tool that sounds a lot like TikTok. Going by what is found by the developer Jane Manchun Mong who finds some unreleased features of the apps, the tool is going to be called Scenes.
She has also shared a few screenshots to let you know what the tool does and from where you can access it to spice up your Stories. According to her revelation made on Twitter, the users will also be able to remix your “Scenes” if your account is public, thus adding more fun. The new tool is equipped with some cool tools for editing. It lets users add music and AR effects to video, and ‘remix’ one another’s clips before sharing them with the public or privately with known people only.

This is the same feature that was spotted in September this year by the same developer but with a different name called Clips. Note that it is very possible that Facebook-owned Instagram chooses not to bring this tool onboard at all, but seeing the good track record of Jane’s reportings, we, at least put our reliant on the existence of it.
There is one more reason that solidifies the possibility of Instagram bringing a TikTok-like editing tool in the near future. It recently launched the Reels feature in Brazil inside its Stories feature.
As you would see in the demo provided, the Reels gains some TikTok-like features already, but for now, it is country-specific. Users in Brazil can soundtrack their Reels with a huge catalog of music or borrow the audio from anyone’s else video to create a remix.
The worldwide growth of the TikTok is not hidden and it would be interesting to note how its new competitors will counter it.
