Lenovo has become the newest Android OEM to announce the Android 10 beta program that will bring the latest Android version to eligible devices. Chang Cheng, Vice President of Lenovo, unveiled ZUI 11.5 based on Android 10 through a post shared on Weibo in China. It comes with a number of new features including Lenovo One, a feature similar to Samsung DeX and Apple AirDrop platforms.
ZUI 11.5 is the latest iteration of Lenovo's custom Android skin named ZUI for its own range of smartphones and tablets. It is based on Android 10, the latest Android version unveiled by Google about a couple of months ago. Cheng did not go into details about what changes to expect but it is safe to assume that it will offer all the major Android 10 features. However, he made it clear that the new software is currently in beta stage and is available for anyone interested in becoming a beta tester.
The biggest addition to ZUI 11.5 is Lenovo One functionality. The exact details about this new feature are unknown but it is said to be aimed at offering a seamless connection between Windows PCs and Android devices. It will allow users to project content from their Android device to a Windows laptop or PC. It can also be used for quick file sharing between the two devices with ease.
The Lenovo Z6 Pro is the first device to receive ZUI 11.5 Android 10 beta update. It is an Android flagship which means it is not surprising to see it being one of the first phones. Lenovo is yet to share a complete list of eligible devices for the new update but as and when it will, we will keep you posted. It will also be interesting to see whether all eligible devices will receive Lenovo One functionality or it will be limited to high-end phones.
