We know that foldable phones are the future which is the reason brands like Samsung, Huawei, and Motorola have already released their respective offerings. Xiaomi seems to be next in line to join the club as we reported about a foldable phone patent application last week. And now, a new patent application from the brand has been spotted.
Xiaomi filed this new patent application at China's National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) also known as the Chinese Patent Office (CPO). There are accompanying diagrams that show a foldable smartphone concept with three sections. There is also a quad-camera setup visible in the expanded main view.
It was first spotted by an online publication Dealntech that also recreated the diagrams into a conceptual design. It is shown in the folded state where the design resembles the Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha. The camera setup is slightly off-center which is also the case with the Alpha smartphone.
As for other details about the Xiaomi foldable smartphone, they are missing for the time being. We can expect these details to become public as the time will pass. It is also worth noting that the patent application itself does not mean that Xiaomi will actually release the product in this form. All the leading technology companies are known for working on various concepts and filing patents.
