Original (December 11th, 2019):
When Realme unveiled the Realme XT smartphone about three months ago, it also revealed plans for announcing a new phone named Realme XT 730G. The same phone is now confirmed to launch on December 17th but under a new name i.e. Realme X2. This rebranding makes sense as the previous was not only longer but it could have been confusing for buyers. The launch day is the same when Realme Buds Air true wireless earbuds will also be released.
The Realme X2 is being marketed as "64MP Performance Expert" confirming that it will have a 64-megapixel main camera. Madhav Sheth, CEO of Realme, has also tweeted a phone's photo showing that it will have a quad-camera setup featuring an ultra-wide lens, a portrait lens, and an ultra-macro lens. There will be a 32-megapixel selfie camera housed within the dewdrop-styled notch.
Under the hood, it will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G processor coupled with up to 8GB of RAM. It will sport a 6.4-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display along with an in-display fingerprint scanner. The battery capacity is unknown but it will be supported by 30W VOOC Flash Charge 4.0 capable of offering 67% charge in only 30 minutes.
Like many other Realme phones, the Realme X2 will be a Flipkart-exclusive offering in the online market. The official teaser page also hints at a Realme X2 Star Wars edition. The variant is shown with Star Wars branding on the back and has two sabers crossing each other to form the letter "X".
Realme has also introduced a new sale called Realme X2 Booster Sale. The sale is live until December 16th and is allowing buyers to book their Realme X2 units by paying Rs. 1,000 booking amount. Once these buyers pay the remaining amount after the launch, their units will be shipped and they will also receive an extra Rs. 500 off on the purchase.
