As Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2020 is getting closer, tech companies have started to send out media invites for their respective events. The Chinese smartphone brand Vivo has announced that it will be attending MWC 2020 as well and will hold a launch event on February 23rd. The media invites have been sent out to select media publications including GSMArena which has shared the same.
The launch invite reveals nothing but the Vivo MWC 2020 launch event venue i.e. Nautic Center, Barcelona and the launch date i.e. February 23, 2020. The poster also has the "V" alphabet in the background that could be our only clue at guessing what Vivo might have in store for us.
Some of the speculations suggest that the "V" could be a representation of a foldable smartphone. We have seen many other OEMs working on foldable phones and a few have even released their offerings. The latter includes the likes of Samsung Galaxy Fold, Huawei Mate X, and Motorola RAZR (2019). Even Vivo's closest competitors Xiaomi and Oppo are working on respective foldable smartphones.
But before you get too excited, it is worth mentioning that the "V" alphabet could also represent a next-gen Vivo V-series smartphone. It unveiled Vivo V17 series this year and if we go by Vivo's track record, the next phone should be called Vivo V19 Pro and it should at least have upper mid-range specifications. Either way, we will keep you posted as Vivo will reveal more information about the launch.
