Realme is one of the fastest-growing smartphone brands in India but it has ambitions to expand and become the leading tech lifestyle brand. This is the reason it has diversified its product catalog by releasing wireless earphones, truly wireless earphones, wired earphones, power banks, phone cases, backpacks, and other accessories. It has even bigger plans for next year as it is now planning to enter the fitness gadget market.
Madhav Sheth, CEO of Realme, has announced that the Realme fitness band will be launched sometime during the first half of 2020. He made the announcement during the 13th episode of AskMadhav series on YouTube where he answers questions asked by Realme fans. This is not the first time that we have heard Sheth talking about Realme's plans to release a fitness band. He previously hinted at the same about two months ago where he mentioned working on a fitness product. At that time, it was unclear whether this product would be a fitness band or a smartwatch but now, the existence of a fitness band has been confirmed.
He did not go into details like what to expect and what would be price range but assured that a fitness band is definitely in works. But if we go by Realme's history of competing directly with Xiaomi, we can expect its fitness brand to be a direct rival to Xiaomi's Mi Smart Band series as well. The latter's current-gen fitness bands include Mi Smart Band 4 and Mi Smart Band 3i that cater to customers with different budgets. We will have to wait and see which price segment Realme chooses to target.
Realme has already confirmed that its roadmap for smartphones includes a 108-megapixel camera phone. It already has Realme XT and Realme X2 as 64-megapixel camera phones which is the highest megapixel count available on phones in India. The team is also working on expanding its offline presence in the country as it plans to open 30,000 offline stores.
