Xiaomi has spent the past few months updating as many devices as possible to the newest MIUI 11 custom ROM. It still has a few other devices to upgrade but that does not mean it is focused only on that. Xiaomi has started teasing the next-generation of custom skin iteration i.e. MIUI 12 on the Chinese social network Weibo.
It has posted a teaser image on official Weibo that has nothing but "MIUI 12" written. It seems like the official logo for the next-gen MIUI custom ROM. The logo is undoubtedly visual different and suggests that we might be seeing visual changes with the new version. It may even have updated fonts, themes, and animations for a completely different aesthetic.
Xiaomi usually releases a new MIUI software version in the second half of the year. To be more specific, it does so around the month of September. It did the same last year with MIUI 11 where the first announcement was made in China. The global ROM was announced about a month later i.e. in October.
This is the reason we can expect MIUI 12 to debut sometime around September 2020 in China. The global ROM should arrive a few weeks later. Nevertheless, we will keep you updated on everything Xiaomi will reveal about the new software.
