Instagram Boomerang updated with new video editing features

13 January 2020 0

Instagram has officially released new Boomerang video editing features in an attempt to make it more appealing and engaging for users. These features were reported to be under development last year and have now been released for everyone. There are essentially four Boomerang features named SlowMo, Echo, Duo, and Trimming.

It is the biggest Boomerang update to arrive in recent years. One of the main reasons for the same is said to be the insane popularity of TikTok, an app that lets users create short fun videos. The newly added features are in addition to the existing infinite loop animation that was released originally with the feature.

Here is what each of these new features does:

  • SlowMo: Turn your Boomerang videos into slow-motion with playback speed half of the original
  • Echo: Creates a double vision effect by adding motion blur to anything that is moving
  • Duo: Both speeds up and slows down your Boomerang, adding a texturized effect
  • Trimming: Allows you to trim the Boomerang video length as per your preference or need

All four Bloomberg features have already started to roll out for all Instagram users worldwide. The rollout started this past weekend and should reach you anytime soon. All you need to do is to check for the new Instagram update on App Store and Google Play Store depending on whether you have an iOS or Android device.

In a statement to TechCrunch, Instagram said:

"Your Instagram camera gives you ways to express yourself and easily share what you’re doing, thinking or feeling with your friends. Boomerang is one of the most beloved camera formats and we’re excited to expand the creative ways that you can use Boomerang to turn everyday moments into something fun and unexpected.”
