Realme UI based on Android 10 unveiled: Everything you need to know

13 January 2020 0

Realme has officially unveiled its own custom Android skin named Realme UI in India. It runs on the latest Android 10 and is essentially based on Oppo's ColorOS 7. The new UI features a look clean look inspired by stock Android experience. It is also exclusive for existing as well as upcoming Realme smartphones.

Realme UI has a lot of visual changes as compared to ColorOS 7 that gives it a unique identity with a fresh feel. The new design language Real Design is described as "real but not realistic, simplified but not simple". It features an improved Quantum Animation Engine that is said to offer smoother and better animations.

The team has focused on the customization aspect as it allows users to make their own app icons. They can choose the icon shape (round or square), icon size, transparency level, and even the app icon itself. There are various options to help users get a unique end result. There are a total of 11 new wallpapers that are said to be inspired by natural elements. These wallpapers can be set on the home screen, lock screen or both.

It has a bunch of new features beyond visualization and personalization as well. Focus Mode is said to help users detach themselves from the outside world. It also plays some relaxing music for better concentration. One interesting feature is Privacy Information Protection that sends empty information pages to apps asking permissions to user's sensitive data like contacts, text messages, call history, and schedule. It can be used when an app won't work without these permissions but you are not interested in sharing the information either.

Realme UI Availability Schedule

The only smartphone that has been announced with Realme UI is the Realme X50 5G. It was announced in China at an event held last week. We can expect the new custom skin to come pre-installed on all future Realme smartphones. As for existing devices, here is the current Realme UI release roadmap:
