It has been over a month since Redmi K30 was launched alongside the 5G variant. The smartphone boasts a 120Hz display that makes it one of the few phones with such a high refresh rate but it seems like it can bring more to the table. Lu Weibin, VP of Xiaomi, has shared a short video demonstrating it with a 144Hz display refresh rate.
The demo video reveals that the Redmi K30 5G display is capable of offering a 144Hz refresh rate. It essentially shows the way content looks when seen at different refresh rates with main focus on 30Hz, 60Hz, 120Hz, and obviously 144Hz. The particular test was conducted in a test lab which means it is hard to say if it will also be made available on retail units.
If it decides to do so, it will most likely be achieved via a software update. Since the Redmi K30 5G already has capable hardware, the team will only have to take care of the software side of things. Maybe it is the issue with the software aspect that resulted in Redmi restricting the display refresh rate to 120Hz at the time of launch.
Nevertheless, we can expect the Redmi K30 Pro to arrive with a 144Hz display panel as well. It makes sense considering that a "Pro" is supposed to offer either the same or better features to users. It has been over a month but we are yet to hear anything about the official launch of the Pro model but rumors suggest a March 2020 release.
