Telegram updates polls with Visible Votes, Multiple Answers, and Quiz Mode

24 January 2020 0

Telegram is receiving a new update that focuses primarily on the polling feature it introduced in late 2018. It is calling the update Polls 2.0 as it introduces three new ways of creating polls: Visible Votes, Multiple Answers, and Quiz Mode. These are expected to offer flexibility to users when it comes to asking for opinions in a group.

Starting with Visible Votes, this is the same as the original polling feature but with the ability to see who voted for what option. It will work for the poll creator as well as all other group members. Telegram has said that the original anonymous polling feature will continue to exist. It will be up to the creator whether they want the poll to be anonymous or visible to everyone.

The next method called Multiple Answers does exactly what the name suggests. It will allow users to vote for multiple options that can be the case for certain polls. For example, if there is a poll about selecting the best date and time slot for the next get-together, some users may be okay with more than one slot and they will be able to reflect the same.

Lastly, Quiz Mode is an option meant for creating quizzes of any kind. The creator will be able to offer up to four options where only one should be the correct answer. It will show the percentage of users opted for a particular answer as well as represent the correct answer with Green color.

This new Telegram update further brings the ability to tweak the message bubble appearance by adjusting corners. It also shows progress bars for file download/upload so that you can get an idea of how long it should take for the process to get completed. All these features are accessible via Telegram Android and iOS apps as well as the web client.
