Qualcomm's newest flagship processor Snapdragon 865 is capable of performing a lot of tasks and one of them is the ability to shoot 8K videos. It is the first mobile chipset from the company that can record such a high-resolution video and in order to show what it can actually achieve, Qualcomm has shared the first 8K video sample shot using Snapdragon 865.
The sample video has been shot using a Snapdragon 865-powered prototype device with a Sony IMX586 camera sensor. The video was shot in Arizona and shows different sites including Grand Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, and the Petroglyphs near Antelope Canyon. It shows wall paintings, rock formations, landscapes, and rivers among other things.
It should be noted that even though the video has been shot in 8K, you will need an 8K display to actually see it. Otherwise, you will be seeing a scaled-down version equivalent to the resolution of the display you are using. You can even notice some stuttering at a few places in the video.
The Snapdragon 865 will be the processor of choice for the majority of 2020 Android flagships. The first smartphone to feature the chipset will be the Samsung Galaxy S20 series that will be unveiled next week. Other smartphones that are known to come with the processor are the Xiaomi Mi series, an unnamed iQOO 5G smartphone, Oppo Find X2, and OnePlus 8 series.
