Flipboard is one of the widely used news aggregator services and it is now venturing into the video streaming category. It has announced Flipboard TV as video news aggregating service. It is a premium service which means users will have to pay and it is currently priced at $2.99 per month.
Flipboard TV will be accessible directly from the Flipboard app which means users will not have to install any extra app. It will offer news video content from various sources like Variety, US Weekly, Rolling Stone, Barron’s, Bloomberg Media, The Wall Street Journal, and MarketWatch. There will be channels based on the News, Business, Politics, Entertainment, and Technology categories. These will help you find relevant channels quickly and with ease.
As per the announcement, there are over 100 news publishers that are available at the time of the launch. There are also various local news sources like KCRA (Sacramento, California), WESH (Orlando, Florida.) and KCCI (Des Moines, Iowa). Although, offline viewing does not appear to be available at this time.
Flipboard TV is currently limited to Samsung Galaxy S20 users but will be expanded to other phones in the future. All buyers of the new flagships will get a free three months trial of the service. Since these phones will go on sale from March 6th, that is the day the service will also go live.
