Since the late 2015, reports have surfaced from time to time with regular intervals that Nexus handsets with Android Marshmallow do not get Gmail notifications as long as the app wasn’t opened manually. Google is looking into this issue for quite some time now. And now is the time for some positive news. Google has brought out a fix and users will get the same in the ensuing weeks.
There was a sync issue earlier that involved Hotmail accounts was set straight through a new update to Gmail for Android app. Google will look into the on its own end. Google in its support forum says “a fix has started to roll out. This fix requires no action, and will roll out globally over the next week.” Googler clarifies the fact that this fix has nothing to do with this month’s security patch for the Nexus handsets and won’t even need any system update.
The users who experienced the problem have said that they haven’t got any email notification for an extended period of time. For some users, if they turn off the battery optimization for the Gmail in Marshmallow OS got the problem fixed. However, a permanent clarification will always be most welcome and it will solve the issue for good.
