In the summer of 2015, Samsung had launched the Samsung Galaxy J5 and the Samsung Galaxy J7 to be the first such smartphone to have front cameras with LED flash. And now, here comes the successors to both these handsets with the 2016 edition known as Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) and Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016).
Even as Samsung still hasn’t announced the 2016 editions of these devices, we get to see them thanks to Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center from China, as the handsets have just been approved.
There may not be any immediate striking visual difference the Galaxy J5 (2016) and the Galaxy J7 (2016). However, the Galaxy J5 (2016) is a tad smaller with 5.2-inches, while the Galaxy J7 (2016) comes with a larger 5.5-inch display. However, if you compare the older models with the newer ones, this year, the handsets look more trendy and elegant.
The Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) will have a couple of variants – the SM-J7108 and the SM-J7109. The solidary difference is that 1.6 GHz octa-core processor will power the SM-J7108, while there will be the unknown 1.5 GHz octa-core processor having four cores for the SM-J7109. The 2016 J7 has LTE and 13MP primary camera and a 5MP camera for selfie. RAM will be 3GB and internal storage having a capacity of 16GB with a microSD card slot. A 3,300mAh battery is likely to keep the lights glowing.
The Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) is a handset with lower specs. However, the similarity is that this variant will also have 13MP and 5MP rear and front cameras respectively. Another identical feature is the native storage of 16GB with the ability to expand it with a microSD card.
As of now both 2016 variants run Android 5.1 Lollipop. Let’s hope Samsung releases them with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
