14 March 2016 0

As we have repeatedly mentioned in our various reports and news that Xiaomi is a brand to look up to with the company being interesting in itself and impressive smartphones. Founded in 2010, it didn’t take one bit for the company to keep growing and currently sits at the top of the smartphone manufacturers in China. No wonder, it will look to expand itself outside their home country as well so it can capture more market. The company’s flagship, the Xiaomi Mi 5 was unveiled at the MWC last month and it has picked up good pace.

Though China is the top smartphone market in the world, for Xiaomi, the Indian market is of utmost importance and it has been reiterated on several occasions in the past. It has been confirmed already that the company will launch the Mi 5 in India in the next month. However, these aren’t the only plans for Xiaomi for the Indian market. Lin Bin, the President and the co-founder of Xiaomi has confirmed plans of setting up two manufacturing plants in India that will manufacture components, peripherals as well as handsets. The company has joined hands with Foxconn that will manufacture Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime here in India. And it has to be mentioned that this will be under the ‘Make in India’ initiative by the Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi.

Newly surfaced information confirms that the Chinese company will in fact open a couple of factories, but not in India, but in China. The company is still under negotiations with Foxconn. Manu Jain, the Xiaomi India head said that it is planning to start at least one unit in India before the year is out. The plans for India are big indeed as Xiaomi recently introduced the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 for India. Apart from this, we need to keep a watch on what plans Xiaomi has for India up their sleeve.
