If you regularly upload photos to your Facebook account, then this might be the biggest problem for you in Facebook, it always decreases the quality of photo to ease the strain on their servers.
Mobile users face this problem more than desktops users. Photos upload from mobiles is more compressed than from desktops. Facebook recently rolled out a new update in which users has the ability to opt into higher quality uploads from the Android app.
This feature is available on the latest version of FB, Version no. is 126.96.36.199.59. The feature didn’t show up immediately after the update, it might because there be a server-side switch involved. The option to upload higher quality is available at the app settings and it’s turned off by default.
If you upload files worth 6 MB and 5312 x 2988 pixel Facebook will reduce it to 443 KB and 2048 x 1152 pixels. 2048 pixels is the maximum width that desktop users can upload, now it is same for mobile users.
Facebook isn’t just about photo uploading social media so it is not as the place for higher quality photos but users won’t have extremely poor quality mobile uploads.
