Xiaomi announces Android TV powered 4K Mi Box at Google I/O 2016

If you might remember, about two days ago, Xiaomi's VP Hugo Barra teased the launch of a new product at the Google I/O 2016 event. At that time, we were not able to make a guess about what it could be but you don't have to keep guessing anymore. Xiaomi has announced a new 4K Mi Box which is powered by Android TV.

The all-new Mi Box will be able to play and stream 4K UHD videos at 60 frames per second. It also comes with a Bluetooth voice remote which will make it easier for you to search and browse for Android apps and other Google provided content be it movies or games. It features support for HDR10 and HDMI 2.0a. As for the sound, it boasts of Dolby Digital Plus and DTS surrounding sound.

Xiaomi also announced a Mi Game Controller which will be an optional purchase along with the Mi Box. It will let you enjoy your Android games in a better way. At the moment, Xiaomi has not announced any specific time frame for the release but it is confirmed that the Mi Box would be coming to the U.S. soon.
