News are doing the rounds since yesterday that Chinese smartphone maker Huawei is in the process of building an operating system for its own smartphones. Reports mentioned that Huawei is trying to absorb engineers from other popular brands so it can step up the processing of developing the new mobile OS.
As said above, these are all rumors and it’s difficult to say how much truth they hold. And that’s why things aren’t confirmed yet. However, if we continue to speculate on rumors, the new Huawei OS will be known as Kirin OS. Richard Yu, the CEO of Huawei, spoke about these rumors via his Weibo account. He was of the opinion that it was Android, which was the prime reason for the development and increase in smartphones. He further added that until Google keeps Android OS as open source platform, there is no question why Huawei will not use it.
Though he spoke about the “availability” of Android as open source, at the same time, he didn’t deny claims of the Kirin OS development. So, does this mean Huawei is indeed working on a new OS? Well, there was no such mention in the face, but a diplomatic answer very much suggests the same.
