An APK teardown of the upcoming version of the Google Fit reveals that Google is bringing a few new features and UI tweaks. It reflects a new detailed graph for viewing sleep habits, a new way to correct incorrectly detected activities, a few new activity types. A few visual adjustments are easily visible in the APK files of the Google Fit v1.59.
The screen for adding activities is restructured; all the fields have now been merged into a single screen which was used to come in four tabs for recording things like how many calories were burned or how many steps were taken during a walk. Functionally, everything is same, but fewer taps or slides are required to hit all of the fields.
AndroidPolice explains that there will be more cards come with the latest update. Talking about the new detailed graph for sleep activity, the source detects there is a new graph containing the recent sleep history is on the way. The only information displayed to the users was the duration of sleep, but, not the quality of sleep or how it is related to historical data.
Also, Google Fit is expected to show more sleep habits including Awake, Deep, Light, and REM. Another chart is likely to depict the sleep duration over time, much like the line that tracks the weight changes over time. The dedicated apps like “Sleep As Android” continue to include the most thorough information when it’s necessary. And, the inclusion of the graph in the Google Fit will act as an add-on feature and can even provide better insights of the sleep.
Another change expected from the Google Fit v1.59 is improvements to the auto-detecting activities. Users will get a message with a notification asking if an auto-detected activity was correctly identified. Tapping the notification will open up a screen with detected events that can then be corrected if necessary. The users will still have the choice to turn off or on this feature.
As any other Google Fit update, the latest update is also expected to bring some new activity types. There is no such trace of any new activity type and this is not too unusual. The upcoming items could be housework, sailing, snowmobiling, team sports, and treadmill, though, "treadmill walk" and "treadmill run" were already on the list.
Apart from these new features, Google Fit will encourage users to push their limits and raise their goals. A new setting "filter steps by activity” can also show its presence in the Google Fit v 1.59. The exact working of this setting is now known but it is being said that it can segregate steps recorded throughout the day from those that occur during specific activities.
There is quite a notable list of changes reflected in the APK of the Google Fit v1.59.
