Telegram is a pretty well-known instant messenger with a UI resembling WhatsApp but packed with features that make sure that you get best of your conversations on the app. It was one of the first instant messengers to add chatbots on handheld devices and now, the team has taken this one step ahead by introducing Gaming Platform 1.0.
As the name suggests, Telegram's Gaming Platform 1.0 is basically a bot powered platform consisting of competitive games. These games can be played by the user against the bot as well as his Telegram friends. If you choose to play with you friends, you can do so in both individual as well as group chats. While games are light weight and feature sound and graphics, it is the feature of the leaderboard to track scores of your friends that makes them quite interesting to play.
Telegram says that there are hundreds of games to come for users but for the moment, there are about 30 games to choose from. Some of these games include MathBattle, Corsairs, Football Star, and Lumberjack. These games are also said to be easy to develop. For example, Telegram mentions that it took only three and five hours to create MathBattle and Corsairs respectively.
And as mentioned earlier, all these games keep a track of scores made by players and maintains a leaderboard. And whenever there is a new leader, all the members of the chat get notified regarding the same.
Telegram also mentions that none of these games will add up to the overall size of the app. It is because these games are based on HTML5 technology which means they get loaded only when they are needed. At the moment, the games are available for devices running Android v4.4 or higher as well as iPhone 4 or older.
