Sony’s latest Android smartphone Xperia X Compact was announced way back at the IFA 2016 Berlin event. And today the company has announced an upgraded version of Xperia X Compact. The upgraded version is IP68-certified, so you can use it without having to worry about it getting wet in the rain.
The water-resistant Xperia X Compact is exclusively for Japan and will likely not be released anywhere else. The smartphone will be available starting November and will be sold via the country's largest mobile carrier, NTT DoCoMo. Besides water resistance, the new device will also be available in an exclusive pink color too in addition to other three colors - Mist Blue, Universe Black and White
Interestingly, the Japanese Xperia X Compact has the exact same dimensions and weight as the global version. So it looks like that the company didn't have to compromise on anything in order to add water resistance. All the other features of the smartphone remain the same.
Lets have a quick look at its remaining specs. The Xperia X Compact has a 4.6-inch LCD display with 720p resolution. The smartphone is powered by Hexa-Core Snapdragon 650 SoC coupled with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage which can be further expanded via a microSD card slot. In order to capture beautiful moments, the smartphone is equipped with state-of-the-art three sensors. It has a 23MP rear camera and a 13 MP front camera. It has wide viewing angle display, making it easy to see even from a diagonal. The entire device is backed by a 2700mAH battery with the Quick Charge 2.0 support. In addition, it equipped with a fingerprint authentication sensor to the power button
We expect that the waterproof variant of the Xperia X Compact along with its pink color will be made available for all users globally.
