A popular YouTuber with username JerryRigEverything is known for carry out durability tests for modern smartphones and tech devices, putting them to limits. This time around he puts LG V20 to tough times. His primary test that he is known for is where he sticks a horizontal bar on the screen of the smartphone that he marks with numbers ranging with bar span being from 1 to 9 with markings.
He then starts scratching the screen just below the markings when added pressure as he moves up the numeric numbers. He has put previous top devices to similar tests like Galaxy Note 7 that had shocking results.
For V20, the smartphone survived any major scratches up till 6 and onwards. Around 6 and 7th marking, there were pretty visible scratches, even though the smartphone packs a Corning Gorilla Glass 4, which is pretty defiant of easy scratches.
Likewise, he scratched other parts of the smartphone like the bottom most section of the front side with a metal blade, making the plastic make peel off easily. Later he put speaker grill to the same scratch test which sustained them well, being of metal make.
Same was the result with the hardware side keys, both the volume rockers, and power button were peeled off easily. The back was also easily scratched as its plastic built was prone to easy scratches.
The surprising was the back fingerprint scanner that continued to work even after amazing level of scratches put to it, making it almost drown into white scratch peel off material.
Later he scratched the back camera lens with level 7 tool. At first, it seemed perfectly doing well, though suddenly the case glass that covered the lens shattered at its own. When put to the flame test, the smartphone’s screen last about 6 seconds before its pixel started to turn black. Though soon when the flame was turned off, it started to recover.
For the bend test, he did put an amazing level of stress on the phone, and there were visible signs of it. Back cover came off with battery popping out later. Though overall, the LG V20 bared it pretty well, with no major snapping.
While concluding, it was clearly mentioned that LG V10 was a much strength filled smartphone In the entire V family from LG. In case if you give priority to building strength, then LG V10 would be a better guess than V20.
