Teardown of LG V20 reveals easy repair and tells how to fix charging port

11 November 2016 2

We recently came across a video that put the latest LG V20 to various harsh tests including the scratch one. New smartphones undergo various teardowns and brutal tests courtesy of the famous YouTuber JerryRigEverything. His latest test conducted on the LG V20 suggests that the device bears all the scratches, no matter how hard they are on the Mohr scale, thanks to the Gorilla Glass 4 protection. Now, the same YouTuber has come up with an interesting video in which he is demonstrating the innards of the device and why the components have been added to the LG V20.

According to the video, the tearing up of the smartphone is easy and even the repairing is easy. But, before putting the phone back together again. The OIS stabilization can be clearly seen on the regular rear camera of the LG V20. On the other hand, the wide angle lens doesn’t have any optical stabilization.

The charging port is permanently soldered. So, if in future the charging port breaks, you’re out of luck, unless you have a micro soldering.

While putting everything together, the YouTuber found that there are an incredible amount of screws. And, indeed it has a strong build quality.

The LG V20 isn't still available. To be notified when it becomse available click here.

What about the sim card slot? I think I need to change that as some of the sim reader teeth were broken when trying to squeeze in a torn micro sim instead of the nano sim.
