Google Pixel XL takes on a speed test against the LG V20

14 November 2016 5

Google recently announced flagship Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. The Pixel XL Phablet is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 at a clocking speed of 2.15GHz. The clocking speed of Pixel XL SD821 is similar like the clocking speed of Snapdragon 820 chipset. As Pixel XL clocking is not different from many flagships available in the market that’s why PhoneBuff compared the Pixel XL with the LG’s V20.

The LG V20 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 with a clocking speed of 2.15GHz. So we can’t expect that clocking speed will be making difference but instead it will be based on stock and customized version of OS and memory management on both devices.

The video shared by PhoneBuff showcase two laps of both devices in which a number of apps are opened. In the first lap, the Google Pixel XL thrashes the V20 with a slight difference. The Pixel XL performed all tasks in just 1:36 seconds whereas the LG V20 time span is 1:43.

The Photoshop and video encoding tasks on both devices took similar time span because both the devices chipset have the similar architecture of chipsets and clocking speed. In the second lap, Pixel XL lost the ground as compared to LG V20.

The tester kept opening the games in both V20 and Pixel XL. When the video games are reopened the Gap start appearing, the Pixel XL reopened all video games with a gap of thirty seconds at 2:57 seconds whereas the similar games are re-opened in V20 in just 2:27 seconds.

Despite the Google Pixel XL stock Android 7.1, Nougat is quite aggressive but still it takes more time to clear RAM. It seems like Google’s RAM management is conservative approach whereas LG system is much more customized. Google might narrow this gap in next few updates. Pixel has fallen short of just a few seconds. So, that's not a big loss actually. It's just a matter of a few seconds only. So, for me, Pixel is still fine.
