Unless you have been living under a rock, you must have heard about the ongoing turmoil at Cyanogen Inc. headquarters. It is basically like a war between the company and one of its co-founders Steve Kondik. He recently talked about how he is disappointed with the way things have been going inside the company for past few years and even the company has cut ties with him. During his public post, he talked about plans related to CyanogenMod's future where he suggested rebranding as one of the options. And now, it seems like we have an idea of the rebranded name for the OS as a result of some discoveries on Github.
As per the findings, a new Github repository with the name LineageOS has been discovered. The android_build folder in the repository has reference to CyanogenMod and even all the corresponding sub-folders and files are same as the one available under the android_build folder of the CyanogenMod repository. They are in the same order as well as with the same description.
Other than this, a new Reddit subreddit has popped up recently with the name LineageOS. But unlike the Github repository, this subreddit is private at the moment and can be visited only via invitation.
While the above two discoveries are hinting at LineageOS being the rebranded version of CyanogenMod, there is no official announcement yet from Kondik or anyone related to the ROM development. We will be keeping you updated as more information will appear.yanc

Pretty much
There were some issues in the CyanogenMod camp a few days back. Is the rebranding,if any, due to that?
