Fossil announces new slim hybrid smartwatch additions to its Fossil Q line

06 January 2017 2

Fossil, the fashion accessory maker, has announced three new slim hybrid smartwatches to its Fossil Q lineup at the CES 2017. These are the Q Accomplice, the Q Grant, and the Q Modern Pursuit, all of which are beautifully crafted timepieces with modern designs and a hint of technology, and catering to individual fashions tastes.

The Fossil Q lineup is an array of gorgeous smartwatches, hybrid smartwatches, and activity trackers. It includes the Fossil Q Wander and Q Marshal smartwatches which were released three months ago and have become quite the sensation with their new stylish design.

But the new announcement isn't about "another smartwatch". It is about fancy hybrid smartwatches. Hybrid smartwatches are traditional timepieces that have a little bit of technology infused into them, instead of being outright smartwatches. Sometimes, all you want from your watch is simplicity, because smartphones are enough to complicate your life as it is. Sometimes, the movement of an analogue hand, making ticking sounds, is reassuring in its own way.

These hybrid smartwatches can make life simpler. You still have analogue hands and crowns. But these crowns can be used to interact with the watch on a digital level. For example, if the watch vibrates to alert you of a calendar event, you can use the crown to set a timer. In addition, you have activity and various other sensors on hybrid smartwatches.

The Q Accomplice is the slimmest hybrid smartwatch out of the three. It has three programmable buttons, and you can assign different functions to the via the Fossil Q smartphone app (link at the bottom of this article). It also has an innovative hybrid module that provides access to a range of information such as physical activity, notifications, date, alarms, reminders, and more.

The Fossil Q Grant offers the same features as the Q Accomplice, and comes as merely just a different design with more traditional look and easier readability of the hour and minute hands.

In contrast to the other two, the Fossil Q Modern Pursuit, is a sports watch with a silicon strap option. This watch is closer to being a smartwatch, and has quite some activity sensors built into it.

These watches are equipped with activity trackers, and can vibrate to remind you of messages, calls and more. If you have an Android device higher than 4.4 Kitkat, or an iPhone running iOS 8.2 or higher, then you can sync the watch with your phone through the app;
