Android Nougat update for the Moto Z Play units hit Spain and Portugal in the previous month, and now the rollout has begun for some other regions too, these reportedly include India and Brazil, though there could be more in the list. However, the US and Germany users are still waiting to get this update.
The update is arriving on Indian units as version NPN25.137-15-2, and this brings along new multi-tasking features and more efficient notification controls. Moto Z Play users in India are seeing a notification for the update which says “new system software is available!” The update starts downloading and you can click install after selecting the Yes, I’m in option. Those who haven't received a message should go to Settings > About Phone > System updates to check for availability.
Moto Z Play once updated brings interesting Nougat features including the new multitasking features, more efficient notification controls, and improved data saver and battery features. The update also brings the Moto-specific updates after the Nougat update, this includes a new landscape view for when your phone is connected to a Moto Mod.
It also introduces a new Moto action called Swipe to shrink the screen. There’s also a new setting to disable and enable locking the screen when the screen is ON and you touch the fingerprint sensor. To access this setting, open Settings from the app tray, scroll down to "Security", then tap on the screen lock gear icon.
