Huawei started beta testing Nougat for Honor 8 last year and promised the rollout in the month of February. And now delivering on the promise, Huawei has officially confirmed that Honor 8 Nougat update will start to roll out from today. The update will bring EMUI 5.0 to the mid-ranger from last year which is the latest iteration of Huawei's custom UI for Android.
EMUI 5.0 is a major upgrade from Huawei and is loaded with a lot of new features and changes. It sports appearance closer to the stock Android (as per Huawei) and is said to offer better battery life and optimized performance. One significant addition to the latest UI version is the ability to switch to app drawer layout if you don't like the iOS-like app layout without an app drawer.
Here are some of the changes that you would see after upgrading to EMUI 5.0 on Honor 8:
Other than this, Honor 8 users will also be getting all those unique and new features that Google brought to Android with Nougat. It includes new and better notification management, quick reply from notification, split screen mode, and quick app switching among others.
The update will be rolled out to Honor 8 as OTA and is expected to arrive on all units by the end of this month. You can check for the update by visiting Settings->System Update->Check for Updates. As for Honor 6X users, the EMUI 5.0 based on Nougat update will be arriving in Q2 of the year.
