Chief Executive Officer of Huawei's consumer business, Richard Yu, took to Weibo today confirming the launch of Huawei Watch 2, the company's long-awaited successor to the Huawei Watch. The event is scheduled at MWC 2017 alongside the Huawei P10 and the P10 Plus. He shared an image of a man wearing the new smartwatch with a tagline "Made for free spirits."
The company was prepping for the launch of the new smartwatch in late 2016, however, got postponed due to the delay of Google's Android Wear 2.0. Last month, we also reported on the possibility of SIM card slot in the watch itself, which can help make phone calls. We might even expect two variants - one with the cellular connectivity and the other void of it.
The Watch 2 will feature a sportier design that the predecessor and is rumored to feature a 1.4-inch display inside a 42mm timepiece. Users can opt between a leather or stainless steel strap as per their liking. Other than that, the smartwatch will feature Android Wear 2.0 with a deep integration of Google Assistant AI.
