UPDATE (March 30, 2017)
Earlier today, Nubia's brand ambassador and captain of the Portuguese football team, Cristiano Ronaldo, shared an image from his photo shoot with Nubia on his Weibo page. The image shows the football star holding the upcoming Nubia Z17 Mini.
From the image above, we get a good look at the Nubia's second dual-camera phone for 2017, first being the Nubia M2 that was unveiled on March 21 in China. The two devices have a number of differences, the main being the position of the dual camera and the LED flash on the back. Where the Z17 Mini has them positioned along the antenna line like the Apple iPhone 7, the M2 sports the dual cameras below the antenna lines. The M2 also has a fingerprint scammer upfront underneath the home button, whereas the Z17 Mini has it on the back panel.
According to the post, the Z17 Mini will launch on April 6. We still have no idea about the pricing of the device.
Nubia’s upcoming smartphone, probably Nubia Z17 Mini, has been certified by TENAA, which is China’s electronics certifications agency. The device spotted had the model number NX569J. TENAA listings reveal a lot about the hardware specifications of the device and one thing that could be easily spotted was the dual camera setup on the back.
The handset features a metal body with a dual-camera setup at the back. These dual cameras along with LED flash are located at the upper left edge. There is nubia logo in the center, above which lies a circular button which may work as a capacitive home button. Then there are visible antenna lines at the back which seem to be in trend these days. The fingerprint scanner is at the back below the camera module.
As regards the rest of the specifications, the phone features a 5.2-inch display with 1080p Full HD resolution. The model of the processor has not been decided yet and according to the rumors the smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 or Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 1.8GHz. The device will come coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage.
On the camera front, there will be a 13MP rear camera, however we do not know about the second camera placed on the back. There will be a 16MP camera on the front for selfies and video calling. The entire device will be backed by a 2,930mAh battery to keep the lights on throughout the day. The smartphone will come with Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) pre-installed.
