Snapchat World Lenses are live filters for almost anything you see

19 April 2017 3

Snapchat has a number of cool features and lenses is one of them which also happens to be one of the most widely used features of the app. And now, it has announced an extension of the same feature named as World Lenses. This new Snapchat feature is basically a representation of augmented reality technology and what it can do.

Snapchat World Lenses are live filters for almost everything in the real world. You simply have to launch Snapchat and point the phone's rear camera on the subject. Tap on any surface and you will be welcomed different lenses which you can add to the photo/video you are capturing. You can choose from different options, place it anywhere you want, and even resize it using pinch and zoom functionality.

All of this might appear similar to Snapchat 3D Stickers but the major difference is in the whole user experience. The World Lenses make you feel like the selected lens was actually there in the real world when the photo/video was taken. On the other hand, stickers give you the feeling that they have been added separately.

There are only a few World Lenses at the moment but Snapchat has promised to add more in the future.
