Xiaomi Mi 6 launch event was more about the design and looks of the device. Those four-sided 3D curved glass and stainless steel frame adorning the edges of the devices are the two main attractions. The design of the Xiaomi Mi 6 is simple and clean but the use of the premium materials in the manufacturing of this device makes it somewhat different and it can also change your view towards the phone which doesn't look impressive from its looks at all.
Xiaomi said during the announcement of the Mi 6 that the four-sided 3D curved glass is achieved in a 40-step, 12-day polishing process. The whole purpose is to add some premium-ness to the device by yet holding the tight grip on the price.
There is one more asset if we talk about the design of the device and this is the Oleophobic coating. This is an anti-fingerprint (anti-smudge) coating on glass and ceramic surfaces which create an oil-resistant surface and keeps the dirt, dust away from the phones. The presence of this oleophobic coating doesn’t make the device fingerprint-proof but it's capable of keeping away the grease maximum. Thus, a simple wipe with a soft cloth will make the smartphone brand new over and over again.
Now, the coating is put to test in a short video. One easy way to test the presence of the oleophobic coating is to sprinkle some water over the screen. If the coating is present, the water will get gathered into balls and rolls off the screen entirely. This is what done in the test too and the result has proved that Mi 6 display is covered with the oleophobic coating.
It should be noted that the oleophobic coating is a permanent thing as it wears off over the time and the duration depends on the manner of usage. You can check the video on Weibo post.
