Google Play Protect doubles down security on Android devices

17 May 2017 0

Security is one thing that we can't compromise with in any situation and in this post-PC world that brought the app revolution has made it even tougher for us to tackle all of the threats that might creep in from any of your devices that you fiddle with every day. But Google is after them to keep your's and other 2 Billion devices away from security related issues without letting you even lift your finger.

Google has just announced Google Play Protect at I/O 2017. This is what they say the technology is:

We know you want to be confident that your Android devices are safe and secure, which is why we are doubling down on our commitment to security. Today we introduced Google Play Protect—Google’s comprehensive security services for Android, providing powerful new protections and greater visibility into your device security.

The feature is built into every device that has Google Play on it. The feature is always updating and keeps monitoring your data and device for any security related threats and even takes care of it automatically. Take a look at the following video to learn better.

Google scans around 50 billion apps every day using machine learning to look for unexpected behavior or security threats in the apps even before they are published on the Play Store -- and Play Protect warns users about bad apps that are downloaded from other sources too.

Play Protect even helps when you have lost your device. Along with this, Google has also announced Find My Device functionality as a part of Google Play Protect.

With Find My Device you can locate, ring, lock and erase your Android devices—phones, tablets, and even watches. This feature is built in and enabled on all devices; visit android.com/find or check out the app.

All of these functionalities will be rolled out to the devices all over the world in the coming days.
